Santa Ana, California (US) / Puerto Vallarta was the destination for anglers and golfers who participated in this year’s Hook the Cure powered by IOTEC. The sold-out event took place November 3rd to 6th and reeled in a whopping $480,000 NET for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The competition started on Friday morning as anglers met early at the docks and eagerly awaited the strike-of-six, marking the start of the catch and release competition.
Weekend festivities included a pre-tournament Mexican fiesta and fireworks show at the Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel as well as a Friday night concert by Recording Artist Lucas Hoge, who celebrated the release of his new chart-topping hit. Friday also included golf at Vista Vallarta’s challenging Nicklaus and Weiskopf courses, and a lively weigh-in party with entertainment provided by Vallarta locals Kevin Anthony and Luis Villanueva.
Saturday night’s awards gala and auction, sponsored by American Airlines, wrapped up the weekend activities. For those wanting to relax, Villa Premiere’s world-class spa was just a few steps away. Baseball greats, Matt Young, Roger Clemens, and Rick Honeycutt joined in on all the fun.
According to event chairmen, Bob Huston and Jeff Jennison, $8 million NET has been generated for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since its inception.
